Remembrance Day

11 November, 11am

On the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, the guns fell silent.

Each year on 11 November, Palmerston North commemorates Remembrance Day – marking the anniversary of the armistice signed between the Allies and Germany to end the fighting in World War I.

You are invited to join this year’s commemorative service to reflect and remember.

The service will begin at 11am at Palmerston North Cenotaph, Te Marae o Hine – The Square.

Following the service, the Poppy Places Street of Significance Ceremony will take place at the Palmy Conference + Function Centre, recognising new sites named to honour the memory of New Zealanders who served.

There will be no road closures, but the isite car park will be closed from 10am to 12pm.

NZSL interpretation will be provided during the service and the Poppy Places ceremony to ensure the event is accessible to our Deaf community.

This event is weather dependent. Keep an eye on our Facebook event page for updates.
