Due to severe weather conditions forecasted for the next couple of days, the unfortunate decision has been made to cancel the New Year’s Eve event, which was scheduled to be held in Te Marae o Hine – The Square.
The cancellation includes all entertainment, activities and both firework displays which were planned for the event. We’re disappointed to have to make this call; however, the safety and enjoyment of our crew, performers and event attendees is our utmost priority.
We know many of you will be disappointed to hear this, but due to extreme weather conditions forecast over the next couple of days, we have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s New Year’s Eve event in Te Marae o Hine – The Square.
This cancellation includes all entertainment and both fireworks displays. We are really sorry to have to make this call, especially knowing how much people look forward to celebrating together.
We did consider alternative options, including moving the event to the Arena; however, the floor is currently being re-sanded and polyurethaned, which means it is not available.
While this is not how we hoped to welcome in the New Year, the safety of our community, along with performers, crew and everyone involved, has to come first.
We hope you’re still able to mark the occasion in your own way, out of this wild weather, with your family or friends.
