Diwali Mela

1 November, 5-1030pm

Get ready to light up the night. Join us in the heart of city for the annual Diwali Mela – a free, family-friendly celebration for all!

Diwali, also known as Deepavali, is the Festival of Light – a time to celebrate light over darkness and good over evil. Around the world, families mark this event by lighting lamps, sharing food, and coming together with music and dance.

Here in Palmy, we’re bringing the magic to Te Marae o Hine – The Square with:

  • Glow and flow yoga (glow in the dark fun)
  • Cultural performances and live entertainment
  • The Curry of Fire finals, where on the bravest taste buds survive
  • Henna, rangoli art and more
  • Face painting and bouncy castles for the kids
  • Delicious food from local food vendors
  • Market stalls
  • And an awesome laser light show to end the night

Bring your friends, whānau and a picnic chair or blanket – and be part of this vibrant celebration of Palmy’s diversity.
