Puanga Twilight Festival

Get ready to welcome in the Māori new year, as Palmerston North prepares to host the highly anticipated Puanga Twilight Festival on Friday, 14th July. Following the resounding success of last year’s event, Council and Rangitāne have planned this year’s festival to be even bigger and better, taking place at the Central Energy Trust Arena’s Pit Lane.

The onstage performances will include kapa haka, sets by local artists and a headlining performance by Wellington collective, Toi. As one of the tightest bands on New Zealand’s live scene, Toi have headlined shows for heavyweights such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ocean Alley, Fat Freddy’s Drop, Katchafire and L.A.B, and will be making their return to the stage at our Puanga Festival.

There will be an abundance of food and retail stalls, plenty of activities for the kids, and we’ll also have a spectacular LED lighting display of the Matariki constellation and Puanga star which you can walk through.

Puanga is a time for celebration, reflection and unity. Join us as we honour the traditions of the Māori new year and create lasting memories with friends and whānau.
